[wagner writes a blog]

[welcome to my blog]

Welcome to my blog. It’s a long time coming. People used to ask me all the time if I had a book in the works. I had to explain that not every writer has a secret desire to compose the great American novel. Then when blogs became popular, a couple of friends suggested I start one, but I still couldn’t imagine writing anything for publication in my spare time.

In case you didn’t know, writing is hard. Occasionally I wonder how I’ve stayed with it this long. But it’s a large part of who I am. That explains the name for this blog, my website, and my Twitter profile: wagnerwrites.

The blogging phenomenon is amazing – publishing personal and professional musings on the web for millions of people to read and comment on. It’s especially mind-boggling to someone who started working in technology just before the IBM PC was introduced. (I think that was more years ago than many bloggers have been alive.)

We have a sarcastic saying in my family when someone suggests a new way of doing something: “But why start now?” I had to ask myself that question as I made plans to launch this blog. The answer: I finally have something to say in my own voice, not the voice of my clients–though I certainly like what they have to say, or I wouldn’t work with them. The topics will generally be communication, social media, marketing, and the creative process.

Of course, there’s no sense in wasting everyone’s time, so I hope every post will give you an idea or inspiration along with a helpful link or two. I love the Social Media Club motto: “If you get it, share it.” This pretty much sums up my purpose here.

So whenever you do stop by, feel free to leave a comment and let me know if it’s working. And if you blog yourself, I’d love to know why you started. What has your experience been like so far?

Congrats you brave soul. I’m looking forward to your wealth of information. One thing you forgot to mention is that many can write blogs, not many can do it well. You my friend, are one of the best writers I know and I really look forward to your blogs!

I’ve always thought of a blog, but never consistently had anything to say publicly. I’ll stop by to get the inter wisdom of madam Claire.

Hi Claire — I look forward to sharing in your blogging adventures! When I first read your email — my busy brain transposed it from “launching my blog” to “laundering my dog.” In any event, blog on my friend and make many friends and engage many readers along the way!

Dear Ms. Claire Wagner,
First of all,let me say I am impressed. You are a fantastic writer and editor.
I first started with Facebook to keep in touch with family and then friends and colleagues and college and army buddies.
I was a Supportive Case Manager and started volunteering to help disabled individuals and then disabled veterans. I am a disabled veteran myself, PH – Nam , I volunteered at Pilgrim State, then the Veteran’s Hospital and then the State Veteran’s Nursing Home.
I felt it was like trying to empty the ocean with a pail like when I was a child.
I noticed some of my colleagues utilizing the social media for businesses and for fundraising.
I decided I might be able to do more this way and gave it a try. A bold try. An exhaustive and extensive try. But,as I had just commented,a futile one even with my website and blogs.
One of my other vain attempts was my blog in addition to my website.
